What is A Deadlock?

This is one of the most important interview related question from Multithreading.

A deadlock in Java occurs when two or more threads are blocked indefinitely. In this each thread is waiting for a resource held by the other thread, that results in a deadlock situation, because none of the threads can proceed for further execution.
