GitHub is a code hosting platform for version control using the Git system. It's essentially a social network for programmers to collaborate on projects.

Basic concepts:
1. Repository
· A folder where all your project files are located
Can be Public or Private
2. Commit
· Like a "storage" for your changes
Each commit contains a description of the changes
3. Branch
· An independent version of your code
Able to work on new features without affecting the original code
4. Pull Request
· Request to merge changes from a branch into the master
Others can review and comment on your code
5. Clone
· Copy a repository from GitHub to your personal computer
6. Fork
