A chiller plant or central cooling plant is a small building that contains a number of chillers 'could be water cooled or air cooled chillers or either both', cooling towers and process pumps. The chiller plant provide chilled water to buildings served by that plant.
Chiller plants has lot of advantages starting from elimination of the need of installation of chillers on the roof of buildings and thus avoiding the noise and maintenance problems, because all maintenance works here is under the district cooling provider responsibility.
Moreover, district cooling plant are much efficient in electricity consumption than DX cooling units.
