Executable - Server-Side Swift #06
Welcome to the sixth episode of our series on writing a Server Application in Swift using the Hummingbird framework! In this series, we will guide you through creating a Backend for Frontend (BFF) application, which is part of a larger Framework Benchmark test for BFF technologies.
In this introductory episode, we will talk about Executables in Server-Side Swift
Compilation: Swift code is compiled into a binary executable using the Swift compiler, converting your source code into machine code.
Dependencies: Your application's dependencies are linked into the final executable during compilation.
Build Configuration: Configure build settings with Swift's package manager (SwiftPM) for different environments (development, testing, production).
Running the Executable: Execute the compiled binary on a compatible server, ensuring all necessary resources are available.
Deployment: Transfer the executable to the server, set up configurations, and ensure it runs continuously. Consider using tools like Docker for containerization.
By the end of this episode, you'll understand how to create, configure, and deploy executables for your Swift server applications using Hummingbird.
