Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins declared that tomorrow's Network Engineer needs to be a "Hybrid Engineer," meaning they need to have not just traditional Command Line Interface (CLI) skills, but also network programming skills.

Network programming allows us to scale our CLI knowledge to quickly configure multiple network devices in large (or even small) deployments. This ability to define our network configuration using software is sometimes called Software Defined Network, or SDN.

After going through this free video series, you'll have a much clearer understanding of the need for and benefits of SDN, along with a vision of what options Cisco makes available to use to perform network programming.

I'm excited to be going on this journey with you, and I'll see you in just a few days for Video #2 (where we'll write a Python program to Telnet into a router, make configuration changes on that router, and then save those changes).
