INTRODUCTION TO ARCMAP
ARCMAP is a product of ARCGIS.
It is used to create and organize map.
User interface of Arc map
There are some many tools used in arc map, the following are;
• The menu toolbar: it contains most of the features or tools used in arcmap.It is located on top of the map canvas/ workspace area. Tools such as file, edit, bookmark, insert, customize, save as, new, catalog, search, arc toolbar etc. are located in the menu toolbar.
It could be edited though dragged items from one end to the other.
Some tools on the menu toolbar also contains some additional toolbars .Tools such file, customize, edit, customize etc.
• Map layer /Table of content; is where the shapefiles and other feature layers located.
• Map canvas: The workspace area, where most of map work is performed. Under the map canvas, there are tools such as data ,layout view ,pause ,refresh etc.,
Data view is where map is done, it includes the editing of all the features on the work.
Layout view is the additional of features into the work done on the map such legend, scale, grid, coordinated, key map etc.
