Basic portrait lighting techniques workshop
Last April I was invited to develop a workshop on lighting techniques for portrait photography. We started the day explaining basic technical concepts to immediately go for some action. I photographed the model, with soft and hard light and then we continued, afterwards, by taking pictures of a boxer. In the case of the boy I was interested in highlighting the texture of his skin and his muscles. The lighting was somewhat more complex. Each lighting accessory produces a different kind of light quality, and it was very important that at the end of the session the skin tones of the model were always constant despite the different changes of clothes and makeup.
