Hi, I am Ajay, founding team member at Crio - the most effective project-based learning platform for developers.
I want to talk to you about our Backend Web Developer track today.
I am sure you have used apps like Ola, WhatsApp, Paytm and Swiggy - but have you wondered what it takes to build such products? If you want to learn how to build products that are used by millions of people across the world, Crio’s backend developer track is just the right place to begin.
As you start your journey in the Crio Backend Developer Track, you will realize that you have never experienced learning like this ever before. There are no videos. No tutorials. You get your hands dirty and start building. You will learn by doing.
You will take the avatar of a developer in a leading tech company and learn industry-relevant skills by working on guided projects. We call these Micro-Experiences.
Let’s talk about the details of the backend developer track. You will start by getting familiar with developer workflows in Linux and using version control systems like Git.
Next, it is time to introduce you to Java. If you have basic programming skills in languages like Python or C++, then it is really easy to pick up Java. You will start by writing small programs and build a mini project to apply your newly learned Java skills.
With this foundation, you will be ready to work on your first Micro-Experience - QMoney. Through QMoney, you will build an application to analyze stocks in a user’s portfolio. You will learn professional java development, object oriented design, REST APIs, exception handling and more.
After QMoney, it is time for something bigger and more exciting. Your next Micro-Experience is QEats - a food ordering app. You will build the backend of QEats using Spring and MongoDB. You will also implement REST APIs to fetch a list of restaurants near a user’s location and improve its performance using a Redis cache. Through QEats, you will get an in-depth understanding of how a scalable, distributed web backend is built.
As you work through the Micro-Experiences, you will demonstrate your newly gained skills by building three independent projects from scratch. We call these Build-outs. Build-outs are my favourite parts of this track! You will get a list of requirements that you have to transform into a fully-functional product. Build-outs give you the confidence to take on significant development projects and work on large code bases spanning multiple files. It is a key learning outcome of this track.
When you complete the backend developer track, you get to add five stellar projects to your Github, earn a certificate of completion and boost your resume with Crio-verified skills.
