Equalization means manipulation with the audio frequencies.
To understand it better go effects and select graphic EQ.
You can see all these sliders.
If you hover over them you will see frequencies which you can increase or decrease to make some unique effects.
But how to know which slider to move?
Just remember that deep frequencies are on the left and high on the right.
For example, if you want to increase bass you will move left sliders up.
The best way to see how this behaves is to go manage, factory presets, and over here select bass boost.
You will see how sliders are positioned to increase bass.
If you choose AM radio, for example, you will see that bass and high frequencies are zero.
This will make your voice sound like it’s coming from the old radio.
Click this flatten if you want to start over, or if you find good preset, click manage and save preset so you can use it later.
Don’t be afraid to play with this to find what works best for you.
When you find something good you can go to effect and filter curve.
This is the same thing as graphic eq, but more detailed.
If you go manage, factory presets, and select AM radio again you will see a more detailed version of the AM radio preset from the graphic EQ.
Right mouse click to add dots, and then you can move them around.
Flatten if you want to reset.
And this is a basic introduction on how to use equalization in audacity.
This equalization is a science by itself, and you can easily lose a few days if you want to.
