TEXT Function in Excel - Tutorial
Excel tutorial on how to use the TEXT function in Excel. The TEXT function converts numbers to text. And you can use it when you want to combine numerical values or formula results with other text.
Why use the TEXT function? Because combining text with numbers in Excel is not always as straightforward as it may seem.
For example, if you try to concatenate values like dates, time, percentages, etc with other text, you often end up with results that are hard to decipher.
In this tutorial, we look at how you can use the TEXT function to convert numerical values to text and apply custom formatting to the result.
We then use what we learn to create a sentence combining text with values from an invoice.
We'll start with an example of using the TEXT function to convert a date field to text.
We also go over how you can use the Format Cells / Custom Format options to help you when using format codes in your text formatting.
