PHP Code Sniffer is a valuable tool to use to scan your code and ensure you're following best practices and it identifies code smells, hence the name code sniffer.

Composer is a PHP Dependency Manager that we use to run various Static Code Analysis and Dynamic Analysis tools.

WordPress Coding Standards was implemented to make it easier for code to be developed following a specific style and coding style, along with ensuring you're following best practices and prevent bugs during development.

I use these and other tools while developing DevWP which is a hybrid WordPress theme that I use to help people learn how to code custom WordPress themes.
