Cache memory is located between the processor and main memory, and it is much faster than main memory. When a program accesses data or instructions, the processor first checks the cache memory to see if the data is already stored there. If the data is found in the cache memory, it is retrieved from there, which saves the time and energy needed to access the main memory. Cache memory is smaller and more expensive than main memory, but it can significantly improve the performance of the system.
Virtual memory and cache memory are both important components of a computer system, and they work together to improve the performance and flexibility of the system.
