The role of NAMs in the EFSA Strategy.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) considers New Approaches Methodologies (NAMs) strategic in the context of its remit. Several activities are ongoing with the main scope of implementing the use of NAMs to contribute to the safety of the EU food and feed chain. Although a roadmap has recently been published by EFSA, several activities are already running and the roadmap is considered as a starting point for setting future priorities. This presentation is intended to update on EFSA's ongoing activities on NAMs, but also to give an indication of what can be the impact of NAMs for EFSA in the short, medium and long term.
