As the title indicates, the output (also known as the actuating signal) of integral controllers is directly proportional to the

integral of the error signal.
As is well known, the output of an integral controller is proportional to the integration of the error signal.

Positive aspects of Integral Controller :
Due to their unique capacity, Integral Controllers may reset the controlled variable to its exact set point following a disturbance; hence, these controllers are also known as reset controllers.

Negative aspects of Integral Controller : It tends to render the system unstable due to its slow response to the generated error.

Derivative Controller : We never utilize derivative controllers alone. It should be used in conjunction with other controller modes due to its minor shortcomings, which are outlined below.
It has no effect on the steady-state error.
It creates saturation effects and amplifies the system's generated noise signals.
Now, as the name suggests, the output (also known as the actuating signal) of a derivative controller is directly proportional to the error signal's derivative. As is well known, the output of a derivative controller is directly proportional to the error signal's derivative.

Positive aspects of Derivative Controller : The primary benefit of a derivative controller is that it increases the system's transient response.
