A method signature is the method's name and its parameter list (types and order), used for uniquely identifying a method. A method prototype, on the other hand, is a more complete declaration of a method (or "function prototype" in C), including the access specifiers, non-access modifiers, return type, method name, and parameter list. Therefore, the method signature is a component of the method prototype.
