This is the easiest geiger counter I could possibly through together. It is easy to make and can be made by anyone who knows the basics of electronics. Any geiger tube that runs on about 400v should work. I used an sts-5 which is basically an sbm-20, just look for them on eBay. Lots of tubes are only sensitive beta (β), gamma (γ), and xray (x) radiation such as mine (the sts-5.) If you want one that can detect alpha radiation (α), then make sure you get a tube that has a mica window. This geiger counter will actually work without the amplifier part of the circuit, but the clicks were way too faint to be clearly audible. I made this video so that people could easily make there own geiger counter for cheap. Hope you enjoyed.
