In this video, I give a beginner-friendly introduction to the OpenAI Agents SDK and show how to build agentic AI applications step by step. We focus specifically on creating a social media manager AI agent that can generate personalized direct messages and invoke tools to improve its output.
You’ll learn how to set up the OpenAI Agents SDK in a Google Colab environment, securely load API keys using a .env file, and configure the SDK to work with Google’s free, rate-limited Gemini model instead of OpenAI’s paid models. I walk through creating an asynchronous client, defining agent instructions, and building a social media manager agent that generates personalized DMs for interview outreach.
We then take things further by adding tool invocation. I show how to give your agent access to a research agent that gathers background information before generating messages, resulting in more accurate and personalized outreach. This video is ideal if you’re new to AI agents, agentic workflows, or want to understand how multiple agents can work together in a real-world application.
