In this video we will see how to set up SSH for Git Lab account on Linux machine. The sole purpose of SSH is to automate the authentication process where user does not need to provide username and password every time.

The steps are very easy first you need to generate the ssh keys then you need to paste the public key to your Git Lab account. Once this process is done you have setup the SSH for your account.

After this please do not forget to change the remote origin URL from HTTPS to SSH otherwise pull / push / clone or any other command will ask for username and password.

Once you have changed remote origin URL from HTTPS to SSH you can use any command and it will not ask for username and password as entire authentication process has been automated by SSH.
