Affinity Designer Tutorial - Vector Illustration Process

Hello designers and welcome back to another Affinity Designer tutorial.
Today we're going to recreate a stock photo using only vectors. I'm going to walk you through the illustration process and break down each part. We will use a variety of tools to achieve our goals, but every tool is part of Affinity Designer so no additional add ons needed.
As always i'll be sharing I'll be tips and tricks along the way with shortcuts that can be useful to speed up your design process.

We will be using many tools including the pen tool, pencil tool and different shapes to draw and trace around a photo. After that we will use the node tool to fix any mistakes, then start giving our new drawings a colour either solid or gradient using the gradient tool. To finish off we will be clipping shapes inside of shapes and using the effects tab to apply a gaussian blur or the transparency tool to get the right effect.

NOTE: I'm Using a MAC, so any shortcuts I mention may be different for WINDOWS USERS. See the below for the WINDOWS:

Mac Command key = Windows Ctrl key

Mac Shift key = Windows Shift key

Mac Alt key = Windows Alt key

Mac Ctrl key = Windows Right Mouse button
