Both REST APIs and HTTP APIs are categorized as RESTful API products, with REST APIs offering a broader range of features compared to HTTP APIs. HTTP APIs are intentionally streamlined to provide essential functionality at a more cost-effective price point. These HTTP APIs can be employed to send requests to AWS Lambda functions or any reachable HTTP endpoint. For instance, you can establish an HTTP API that seamlessly integrates with a Lambda function in the backend. Whenever a client makes a request to your API, API Gateway promptly forwards the request to the associated Lambda function and relays the function's response back to the client.

HTTP APIs also provide robust support for OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0 authorization, in addition to built-in features like Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) and automatic deployment.

Creating HTTP APIs is a straightforward process and can be done using various methods, including the AWS Management Console, the AWS CLI, APIs, AWS CloudFormation, or SDKs
