This video is from my course titled Linux for Web Developers. You can watch most of it here and if you find it valuable, head over to the link above.
In this video, we apply our updates and patches. Linux, like most operating systems, is updated often. As soon as you set up a server, you should apply all the latest patches and upgrades first, before you do anything else. Doing this reduces your attack footprint for would-be hackers and ensures a stable server. I used Ubuntu 18.04 for this course because it's been around for a few years and will be supported for several more.
There are basically two commands to know
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade -y
Executing these two commands in order from your SSH session will update your Linux server regardless of whether it's on Digital Ocean like ours, or it's on any other cloud service, or even on bare metal.
Keep watching to improve your skills beyond just making web sites to actually publishing them.
On this page of the site you can watch the video online Applying Security & Software Updates in Linux with a duration of hours minute second in good quality, which was uploaded by the user maddevskilz 18 August 2020, share the link with friends and acquaintances, this video has already been watched 60 times on youtube and it was liked by 1 viewers.
