In Python, variables are defined inside a specific scope. The variable defined in one scope may not be available in another scope. This video talks about local scope of variable where a variable defined inside a function is not accessible outside the function. We talk about global scope which is outside any function or class definition. We can access and modify the global variable using global keyword which is very bad practice.
Python doesn't have block level scope. This video discusses that point as well.
