In this episode, we set up a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W by downloading the MicroPython UF2 firmware from micropython.org and flashing it using the BOOTSEL button so the board mounts as an RP2350 drive. Instead of using Thonny, we configure Visual Studio Code with the MicroPico extension, initialize a project, and add a .gitignore to exclude .vscode and .micro_pico. Then we connect to the Pico’s REPL, run a few MicroPython commands to identify the board, and control the onboard LED. Finally we create a simple blink script, run it from VS Code, and explain that naming it main.py makes it run automatically after uploading it to Pico.
