AppBlocker - Accessibility usage
AppBlocker is an app that allows users to regain their focus and productivity by enabling them to block certain applications. It uses an accessibility service to see the user’s foreground applications and block the ones that the user chooses.
To enroll, users need to open our app for the very first time and navigate through our welcome process and then will be presented with a screen
asking them if they wish to opt-in now or if they wish to continue using the app and opt-in later on.
In this instance, I will opt in for the accessibility service. Here, I must agree, and then I am taken to the OS settings where I must enable the service. Once I have enabled the service, I will be redirected to the app and I will be able to select the apps that I want to block. In order for this to take effect, I must turn the feature on by using the toggle button. Afterwards whenever I try to access one of the blocked apps, I will be shown a message that the respective app is blocked.
As a user, I now have the possibility to go back into the app, and turn the blocking feature off and access all apps regularly.
The final thing that we would like to note is that this app does not transmit any of the captured data to any client. All the data that comes from the accessibility service is stored locally on the device.
