Http and Https Authentication
In HTTP Basic Authentication, a client initially requests a protected resource, the server responds with a "401 Unauthorized" status code prompting for credentials, the client then sends the username and password, Base64 encoded, in the "Authorization" header, and the server verifies the credentials against its database to grant access if valid; if not, it sends another "401 Unauthorized" response, prompting for credentials again.
