Apache Spark is a open source computational engine which is used to process huge sets of data in parallel and batch systems. It uses in-memory caching to process structured, semi-structured and unstructured data. It optimizes the query execution plan for fast analytics against any size of data. It supports various programming languages such as Java, R, Scala, Python etc. by providing development APIs. It supports multiple workloads such as batch processing, real-time analytics interactive queries, graph processing and machine learning. Most of the companies are preferred Apache spark for big data analytics.
Scala is a general purpose, high level as well as multi-paradigm programming language. It object oriented programming language and supports functional programming approach as well. It runs on JVM (Java Virtual Machin) converting Scala program to bytecodes.
