In this video we will discuss about the new isometric tilemap feature in Unity. Isometric tiles allow you to create a Unity 2.5d type of a game feel where you can see your characters moving on the screen in a 3d kind of a view. We will look at the Isometric Z as Y tilemap along with the isometric tiles.

Isometric tilemap helps you to create a nice 2d environment for you game like that of a chess or any other awesome games. In order to get started you first have to create the tile palette using which you have to draw on the scene using a brush tool. We need to drag the assets into the tile palette slot and then create a isometric tilemap gameobject in our hierarchy. When you start drawing you will see that you can easily create a 2d level using the Isometric tilemaps. But sometimes you get an overlapping between 2 different asset tiles and its related to the mode being set to chunk and the custom sorting layer not set to the y axis. Then you need to change the grid size in order to create elevated tiles onto your scene view.
