Como versionar um software, como versionar um sistema, uma API de forma semântica foi a melhor maneira que eu encontrei para ter consistência e sentido para os meu projetos.
Com o SEMVER (Semantic Versioning) conseguimos ter um maior controle das versões do nosso software e assim saber exatamente quando ele foi alterado e qual foi essa alteração, se ela é compatível com as versões anteriores, se foi corrigido um bug ou se apenas uma nova feature está entrando nele.
Separados pelo MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH, temos o controle detalhado das versões, ficando dessa forma.
Exemplo: 1.0.0 ou 1.2.1 e assim por diante.
