Tmux is an extremely powerful tool that I use on a daily basis. I have this installed on Cygwin in a Windows environment, and also on my Linux Mint laptop. There are some fun customization you can do to make the terminal feel more at home. If you've never heard of tmux, search the web for tmux images.
