Do you know why Java is the future?
Probably because it is present nearly everywhere today.
If widespread use was sufficient, Windows would not be dying.
Java has the Java Virtual Machine. The JVM is so powerful for real time compilation that newer languages like Scala use it.
I don't think JVM is basis enough. After all, there are other languages using it that are simpler like object oriented programming.
Java is architecturally neutral and device neutral. That means it is perfect for a world where even Google and Samsung have different hardware for smart phones.
It does not work on a lot of smart phones.
Yes, it does. It's the Adobe Flash and its plug-ins that fail on the iPhone.
Java is stricter. PHP is a lot more forgiving.
Java is harder to learn than newer languages like PHP. But Java has a massive code library, so you hardly have to learn to code in it except to thread together the downloaded modules you are using.
Java compiling can take a long time. Is it worth using?
You only have to compile once. And it runs on every device, so compilation is not a problem.
I've heard people say Java is not good for the cloud, and that's going to kill it.
Java can multi-thread. Node.js takes this to an extreme, dramatically improving server response time and page load time for websites like Walmart.com.
I'm not sure I'd use Walmart as a leading indicator.
Is Paypal a good enough reason, then? They switched to Node.js, Java because eliminates the need to allocate and de-allocate memory and Node.js takes it one better by eliminating that same issue with threads.
I'll take them as an example. Sounds like I need to learn it.
Java has massive amounts of online tutorials and lessons. It rivals PHP in that regard, except it is used far more places.
And I suppose that's why it has a future.
