In this video I walk you through the solution of Maxwell's Equations in 1D using the Finite Difference Time Domain method. I introduce the numerical approximation of the derivative, and then show how that is harnessed to solve Maxwell's PDEs. Finally, I write a 1D FDTD simulator in python in which you can simulate plane wave propagation in 1D geometries (like a thin film).
