UNIX shell scripts are a great way to quickly automate something - until you need to share them with other people, especially people running other operating systems.

That's where Golang and Scriptish - an open-source library built by Stuart Herbert - comes in.

In this video (based on the Scriptish workshop that Stuart ran at DevFest Cymru 2019), Stuart explains why Golang is a compelling choice for building out the kind of command-line tools we'd normally use UNIX shell scripts for. He then introduces Scriptish, a powerful, easy-to-use Golang library that makes it easy to port your UNIX shell scripts to Golang.
