Holocaust survivor Irene Butter, an ardent peace activist and pioneering faculty member in U-M’s School of Public Health co-founded Zeitouna, (Arabic for olive tree) in 2002, an Ann Arbor-based dialogue group of six Jewish and six Palestinian women that promotes peace and fellowship between the cultures.
This much-celebrated educator and peace activist has visited Germany numerous times to speak to audiences about the Holocaust and genocide in hopes they will stand up against hatred, prejudice and racism. I
