Most developers waste hours adding Python type hints manually — file by file, function by function. In this lesson, I show you how to build a production-grade bash batch processor that uses Claude Code CLI to automatically add PEP 484 type hints across your entire Python codebase in a single automated run.
You'll learn exactly why naive claude -p loops fail at scale — context window overflow, duplicate diffs, silent exit codes, ANSI corruption, no resume capability — and how to fix every single one.
What you'll build:
→ batch_type_hints.sh — a stateful, resumable, error-resilient bash script
→ JSON state file with SHA-256 hashing for idempotent processing
→ CLAUDE.md project memory for consistent type-hint conventions
→ GitHub Actions CI workflow that runs every Monday at 2 AM automatically
This is Lesson 3.3 of the Hands-On Claude Code & Claude Skills course.
