2023 Update: Renogy has changed the subscription plans since we first made this video. It was confusing as all get out; now, it's much simpler. YOU DO NOT need a subscription plan in order to remotely monitor your system. All you need is a wifi connection for the R1 and a data connection for your smart phone.
The subscription plans help you record and track historical data and view all of that through their online portal, https://renogy.sjv.io/Y9ooer. The potential for this little device is crazy whether your off-grid home is stationary, floats or rolls like ours. Not only does it wirelessly connect (or via ethernet cables) to all of your Renogy solar devices, it allows you to connect remotely to your system via the Renogy DC Home App on your smartphone or tablet, to view real time data as well as control some of your home's energy systems. Using wireless relays, in addition to some smart gadgets, you can turn on / off appliances, change load parameters, monitor the security of your location and automate many of your daily energy routines. It can help you become more efficient, independent and even, secure.
What we like about the Renogy ONE:
1. Easy to install and set up.
2. Connection to Renogy DC Home App couldn't be easier and allows you to view all of your devices in the app.
3. 4' HD touch screen and switches are clear and super intuitive to use.
4. The potential for adding new components and home energy automation is impressive.
5. Works well even without a subscription plan.
What we are not so crazy about:
