1. Base Typography & Pre-Comp Setup
• Create Main Composition: Create a standard 1920 by 1080 composition.
• Pre-Compose Treatment: Type your text and immediately pre-compose the text layer.
• Size Fine-Tuning: Jump inside the pre-comp, open Composition Settings, and shrink the Height until it perfectly hugs the top and bottom boundaries of your text. This crucial step ensures that the CC Cylinder effect wraps the text with pixel-perfect precision later on.
2. Expression Automation
• Add Text Animator: Click the text animator dropdown menu and choose Position.
• Injecting Code: Add an Expression Selector to your text animator. Alt + Click the stopwatch of the Amount property and paste your prepared scrolling expression code.
• Position Alignment: Tweak the animator's Y Position parameter to push the text upward. You will immediately notice that the text starts scrolling automatically based on the logic of your code.
• Batch Production: Press Ctrl + D to duplicate the layers and swap out the text content. The expression will automatically handle and offset the animation rhythm for all layers.
3. Spatial Architecture
• Angle Correction: Head back to the main composition. Press R to open Rotation and rotate the pre-comp layer 90 degrees so that the long text strip stretches horizontally across the screen.
• Shadow Layering: Duplicate the layer twice to serve as shadows. Displace them slightly to the left and right respectively, then drop their Opacity down to 10%.
• Boundary Clipping: Open the Composition Settings again and crop the Width down to a tighter, suitable value to slice away any unnecessary dead space.
4. 3D Texture & Styling
• Effect Stacking: Create a brand new final composition (restoring the resolution to 1080p standard: 1920 by 1080) and drag your cropped assembly comp into it.
• Core Plugins:
o CC Cylinder: Change the Render mode to Outside so the text seamlessly wraps into a clean 3D cylinder shape.
o Transform: Add a Transform effect and set its Rotation to -90 degrees to correctly re-orient the text for normal reading.
• Lighting & Color Grading:
o CC Tritone: Apply the Tritone effect to customize your color palette. Pro tip: pick high-contrast colors for your Highlights and Midtones to make the text pop.
o Shading Tweaks: Expand the Shading properties within the CC Cylinder effect and fine-tune the ambient and diffuse parameters to lock in that premium, high-end look.
