Aperture priority is probably the professional photographers favourite setting, unless shooting fast objects like car photographers.
The aperture must be ricght for the depth of field or DOF as it's sometimes called , it must be correct for the result that the photographer wants. Used in conjunction with iso and shutter speed it will give you absoulout control over focus.
I would advise any beginner photographer or someone starting out too use aperture priority as soon as is possible. It is a great stepping stone to working on a fully manual camera setting.
