High school math teacher explains how to find the derivative of x⁴y⁸-y=x using implicit differentiation!

An equation in implicit form is when y is not written in terms of x and y is impossible to isolate. An equation written in explicit form is when y is written in terms of x. In this video, we differentiate an equation in implicit form.

The derivative of x in terms of x is 1. However, the derivative of y in terms of x is dy/dx. This is the key difference when differentiating a term with an x variable versus a y variable!
