RIP is a distance vector routing protocol. It shares routing information through the local broadcast in every 30 seconds. In this tutorial we will explain RIP routing fundamentals with examples such as routing metric, rip timers, split horizon rules, hold down timers and difference between RIPv1 and RIPv2.
