This first video in a series of videos is a learn by example for test driven development (TDD) in Node.js. We look at the bare minimum to get the javascript testing framework 'jest' up and running and how to write our first test. Bare minimum for ECMAScript (ES) modules and the basic skeleton code and directory structure for allowing tests to run. How to install the necessary npm packages and how to configure the package.json to allow tests to run. I have tried to make this as simple and easy for anyone to start TDD with javascript. Look out for the next video that explains, in brief what TDD is, how we do TDD and how it drive development.
I have been remotely mentoring and managing developers for the last 6 months on a project that we use TDD for not just to allow for CI/CD but to actually review, drive and share out development and setup the next sprints of work. It is a useful methodology not only for development but also feeds in and out of brainstorming and mobbing sessions.
