It is cumbersome to express a vector as a magnitude extended from an axis by a certain degree. It is much easier to describe the vector in terms of its components. In order to organize the components into their corresponding direction we use the terms i hat j hat and k hat. This is a video that merely explains what unit vector notation is, I will have practice videos coming soon
