Live conversion of the npm library "shell-exec" from JavaScript to CaffeineScript. In this video I take a well-written, and seemingly trivially simple JavaScript library and convert it to CaffeineScript. Along the way I not only reduce it's token-count by over 3x, exactly what CaffeineScript is good at, but I also discovered additional structural changes which became obvious as I simplified the code. This is one of the main reasons why I argue it's important to reduce the amount of code it takes to express an idea - the ideal behind why I created CaffeineScript. You reduce the noice so you can see the signal.

Technologies: CaffeineScript, JavaScript / NodeJS (platform)
Tools: SublimeText, Xterm2
