I was working on a way to rotate images in python using both the pygame and pillow modules. Once I got it working, I realised it wouldn't be too big of a jump to make it into a Mode 7 style effect.

The loading screen in Sonic CD is pretty boring and looks out of place, in my opinion. I don't know if the Mega CD could handle displaying an effect like this at the same time as reading from the disc, however, so perhaps the simpler loading screen would be more practical.
