PowerShell Command : Clear-Item
The Clear-Item cmdlet clears the content of an item, but it does not delete the item. For example, the Clear-Item cmdlet can delete the value of a variable, but it does not delete the variable. The value that used to represent a cleared item is defined by each PowerShell provider. This cmdlet is similar to Clear-Content, but it works on aliases and variables, instead of files.
PowerShell is a cross-platform task automation and configuration management framework, consisting of a command-line shell and scripting language. Unlike most shells, which accept and return text, PowerShell is built on top of the .NET Common Language Runtime (CLR), and accepts and returns .NET objects. This fundamental change brings entirely new tools and methods for automation.
