Python Tutorial for Beginners 2021 - Practice Program - Unit Conversion Two
Hey guys, this is the 27th video for my Python's tutorial course for beginners. We will be covering all the basics about Python including installing and setting up the development environment, variables, data structures, iterations, conditionals, operators, error handlings, functions, classes and many more. The aim for this tutorial is to provide with a solid foundation layer for Python and programming in general so that we can proceed to more advanced level Python tutorials and also look into different application areas of using Python such as web development and data science.
This video is the second half of the practice program for unit conversion. In our last video, we've talked about two bad strategies of implementing a program, both of them required lots of manual work and coding. So in this video, we are using a dictionary that contains a set of equal values for all units that we want to convert in the program, and use a simple cross multiplication to calculate the converted value.
With this approach, we no longer require n number of if and elif blocks or separate mapper that contains specific calculation for one unit, but instead every unit conversion logic will be contained within that one dictionary.
