The Linux which command

Each command you type on the command line, is itself a file or program saved somewhere on your system. The which command tells you which directory that command file (for example, the ls command) is stored.

You can see all of the directories that Linux searches in when looking for a command to execute (i.e. run) by echoing your systems PATH, using 'echo $PATH'
