GitHub's new code scanning autofix feature revolutionizes code security by using AI to automatically identify vulnerabilities and propose fixes. Powered by GitHub Copilot and CodeQL, code scanning autofix streamlines the process of remediating security issues found during code scanning, covering over 90% of CodeQL alert types for JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and Java.

Previously, developers had to manually triage alerts, review documentation, and implement fixes - a time-consuming process that diverted resources from feature development. But with code scanning autofix, AI generates a code suggestion and detailed explanation directly in the pull request, enabling teams to dramatically reduce the time spent on security remediation.

Code scanning autofix marks a major step forward in GitHub's vision for code security - an environment where "found means fixed." It's now available in public beta for all GitHub Advanced Security customers, allowing developers to stay focused on building features while ensuring a more secure codebase.
