Terraform is open source and can be used on any other cloud provider, such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, DigitalOcean, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, VMware vSphere, OpenStack, and many others. Terraform is declarative and idempotent. These are good design principles, and many competitors have also implemented Terraform ideas, making Terraform a de facto standard.

We're launching "Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform" three part learning series. This series is organized as monthly sessions. Each session is independent, so you can pick and choose which series you want to attend.

In the first part of the learning series, we will start with learning the benefits of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), what Terraform is and why people love it, along with a breakdown of the basics (including live demo deployments). Then wrap up with a comparison of Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates versus Terraform, consider some best practices, and walk away with some key resources in your Terraform learning adventure.
