One of the best features about cloud hosting, is how easy it is to resize your server as the resource requirements of your web application grow.

Although we are conducting this demonstration on Linode.com, the concept can be applied to any cloud hosting provider.

You might recall that when we initially signed up, we selected the Linode 1GB package.

Say we wanted to go from this package to the Linode 2GB package.

All we need to do is login to our account.

Under the Linodes tab, click the Dashboard link corresponding to the MyLinode server.

Click Resize.

Now select the new package, Linode 2048, and click Resize this Linode.

The entire migration process is automated, and takes about 20 minutes depending on the network load.

We can see from the status that the entire migration process is now complete.

We might need to log back into the system, because the session might be expired.

Once you've upgraded to a higher package, you can increase your disk size to make use of the new resources.
