Welcome back, Educators.
We are going to explore all about Response validation.
We could add response validation to 3 types of fields.
Short answer.
paragraph.
Checkboxes.
There are preset response validation patterns and regular expression patterns that we could specify.
For this lesson, we go through the preset patterns.
Let’s start with the Short answer, click the 3 dots, then Response validation.
We’ll choose the Number option from the first category.
We have a lot of options under the number subcategory.
Here we’ll type the comparing number.
Here we’ll type the custom error message.
let’s take this example, in which we restricted the age to 18 years old or above.
If the respondent enters an age less than 18, the form does not accept the entry, and the error message will appear.
And now, change the category to text, and let’s choose the URL option.
Let’s take this example, in which we restrict the entry to a valid website address.
If the respondent enters an invalid web address, the form does not accept the entry, and the error message will appear.
A valid web address entry consists of the domain name and the extension at least.
And now, change the category to length, and let’s choose the Minimum option.
Let’s take this example, in which the entry must consist of at least two letters.
If the respondent enters a name that consists of less than 2 letters, the error message will appear.
We are going to add a response validation to the paragraph field.
We could choose the maximum or the minimum of the permitted letters.
Let’s take this example, in which we could write till 200 characters and not more.
If the respondent types more than 200 letters, the error message will appear.
Let’s add a response validation to the checkboxes field this time.
We could choose at least, at most, or exactly permitted checkboxes number.
Let’s take this example, in which we should select exactly 3 checkboxes.
If the respondent selects less or more than 3 checkboxes, the error message will appear.
That’s it, have fun. Thanks for watching.
